KI7F/M6 10 meter Log from July, 1988 to August 1991

The following is a Past log record of amateur radio stations I had talked to on the 10 meter ham band operating mobile from my car as KI7F/Mobile 6 in the Los Angeles, California area from July 10th, 1988 to August 20th, 1991. I mostly operated from the L.A. South Bay area, such as Redondo Beach, Torrance, etc. and I used a Ranger AR-3500 10 meter multimode 30 watt transceiver using an 8 foot 1/4 wave whip or a mag mount antenna on the car and mostly operated SSB.

( I AM CURRENTLY IN THE PROCESS OF COPYING THIS INFOMATION FROM MY LOG BOOK AS TIME PERMITS.)

Below is a photo of the Ranger AR-3500 10 meter transceiver I used and also

Wednesday, August 20, 2003

It is now Wednesday evening, August 20th, 2003 and I decided to sit down in front of the Grundig Satellit 800 radio at 9 PM this evening (03:00 UTC) to tune around the different shortwave radio broadcast bands and heard the following stations. "Voice Of America" with news commentary broadcasting on 9.575 Mhz at 9:10 PM MDT (03:10 UTC) Then I tuned into "China Radio International" at 9:40 PM MDT (03:40 UTC) on 9.610 Mhz as well as on 9.790 Mhz. I believe the 9.790 broadcast was coming from a relay transmitter up in Sackville, Canada and the 9.690 Mhz transmission was coming from a transmitter in Spain which was a weaker signal. Then I tuned in to "Taiwan Radio International" at 9:45 PM MDT (03:45 UTC) and they were on three different frequencies, 5.950 Mhz, 9.680 Mhz, both of which I believe are being retransmitted by WYFR in Florida and 15.215 Mhz (Which had seperate programming content ) which could be coming directly from a transmitter in Taiwan. All the signals were at a good S-9 level. The "BBC" World Service was very strong on 11.835 Mhz with a 10 Db over S9 average signal level at 9:55 PM MDT (03:55 UTC) They were doing some commentary program called Outlook.

At 10:00 PM MDT (04:00 UTC) I tuned into the three different frequencies given for Radio Israel on 9.435 Mhz, 15.640 Mhz and 17.600 Mhz and was not able to hear anything at all. The radio conditions this evening were not all that great! Radio Israel normally comes on the air at 04:00 UTC with an English Language broadcast for 15 mints. I then quickly tuned across the 20 meter Amateur Radio band and heard a number of SSB conversations going on and also heard some CW activity on the low end of 20 meters. Anyway, that is my report for this evening.

My name is Bill Wolverton and I currently live in the Denver metro area. I am a licensed ham radio operator and my FCC issued ham radio call sign is KI7F. I am currently living in a small studio apartment and am not allowed to put up out side antennas, well, I did manage to connect a piece of wire to a metal down spout from the roof of my building to use for an antenna for my shortwave radio receiver and it seem to work fairly well. I currently am using a Grundig Satellit 800 shortwave Radio communication receiver for my shortwave radio listening activities and for my ham radio activites, I mainly operate on 2 meter FM using an Icom IC-2000H and have access to most of the Denver Metro area 2 meter FM repeater systems. I use an indoor 1/2 wave pico J antenna hanging from my apartment ceiling and I run about 10 watts of power with the Icom IC-2000H.

I will tell you what stations I am hearing on my shortwave radio as well as on the standard AM broadcast band and will report any other activity or items of interest pertaining to my ham radio and SWL hobby and will try to include any URL links of interest. My E-mail address is ki7f@yahoo.com and I do have a personal web site at http:ki7f.mixutah.com and I have a personal Photo Album on the Webshot site at: http://community.webshots.com/user/ki7f2
